The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame and Kamloops Sports Council invite you to join in the 31st annual ceremony taking place on April 6th, 2024 at the Colombo Lodge. This year, the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting a total of three individuals and one team, while the Kamloops Sports Council will be presenting seven Athletic Awards. Starting off with a cocktail hour at 5:00 pm, dinner will be served at 6:00 pm, followed by the Annual Athletic Awards and the induction of the Hall of Fame. Where we are today …
The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization which honours the athletic community for their efforts in bringing to our city provincial, national and/or international recognition. In order to be inducted three prerequisites must be met: commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship.
With hard work we have been able to build a Hall of Fame valued at more than $155,000.00. This Hall has been built within the Tournament Capital Centre, a world-class, multi-purpose facility. We have been very pleased to have the City of Kamloops as a partner who has been responsible for the hosting of the exhibition of the Memorabilia.
In conjunction with the Hall of Fame are the Kamloops Sports Council Annual Athletic Awards, which showcase the athletic accomplishments of local sports figures in a variety of categories.
How it all began …
The conception of The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame dates back to the death of two local athletes; Roger Leroux and Kevin Lapa. Roger played football with the Okanagan Sun and baseball with the Kamloops Sandpipers; he died from a blood disorder in November of 1984. Kevin was a very promising member of the B.C. Lions and he died of cancer just a few months later in February of 1985.
The death of Roger Leroux was the inspiration behind a Memorial Dance in his honor. From 1987 to 1990, the funds raised from this dance were saved in a bank account in hopes of one day building a sports showcase in his honor. This foresight and vision lead us to the present day Sports Hall of Fame. In 1991, we had our first banquet and dance and we inducted 6 members including 2 honorary inductees, Roger Leroux and Kevin Lapa. The Hall now has 114 individual members and 25 teams, such as: Mark Recchi, Jim Cotter, Todd Wiseman, Don Hay, Doug Lidster, Ken Hitchcock and Barry McPhee, just to name a few.

Where to find us
The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame is located in the Tournament Capital Center at 910 McGill Road, adjacent to Thompson Rivers University.
Hours of Operation
The Tournament Capital Centre and The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame are open daily from 5:30 AM – 9:30 PM Monday through Friday and 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Saturdays and Sundays excluding holidays.
