2024 Dragonboat Festival

What’s New This Year

In partnership with the Kamloops Sports Council, the Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival Society invites you to join us on the water on August 10, 2024, at Riverside Park. The festival will include racing on the river, going under a bridge, paddling in three 500-metre races and participating in a Guts and Glory race!

On the east side of the park, there will be a grassy, shaded paddlers’ village. The area will be sectioned off and available for team’s tents. With new updates recently done by the City of Kamloops, these added amenities include a new beach walkway.

If needed or desired, the Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival can provide steersmen for teams that do not have experience paddling in a river, as well as practice session opportunities in the afternoon on Friday, August 9th. Please note that there will be no additional fee to any team for these options.

Race Course:

An aerial map can be seen of the race course, it will be on the Thompson River, running downstream from east to west.  Teams are reminded that the course will be subject to variations due to the current and depth of the river.

Paddlers Village:

A map view can be seen of the paddle’s village, it will be on the east side of Riverside Park. The area will be sectioned off, for team tents.
