Rodeo

Harley Hook

Year of Induction: 1998

Harley Hook is one of the great cowboys from British Columbia to claim a Canadian Championship. He did that in the Tie Down Roping in 1978 & 1980 and was named the Cowboy of the Year in 1980 by the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA). Hook was also a top Steer Wrestler during his rodeo career, and has served on the CPRA Board of Directors. Golf

Rod Palmer

Year of Induction: 1998

Rod Palmer worked as both head professional and head greenskeeper, developing Kamloops Golf & Country Club. A skilled player of the game, he won the Ogopogo Open in Kelowna and instructed is daughter, Marilyn Palmer-O’Connor. Rod Palmer and his daughter are the only father daughter combination in the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame.

Hockey

Cliff Russell

Year of Induction: 1998

Cliff Russell was a multi-sport athlete and sport organizer who, with his family of athletes, participated at high athletic levels in the sports community. Russell gave to local sport primarily in the area of hockey, secondary role in track & field, soccer and softball. In addition to playing hockey, he coached this sport as well as track and field, badminton and soccer.

Judo

Yosh Yoshida

Year of Induction: 1998

Yosh Yoshida is known as the Father of Judo in Kamloops. With a 6″ degree black belt, he is one of the most respected sensei in Canada. He joined the Kamloops Judo club in 1946, becoming one of the top competitors in Canada. Yoshida was a driving force in the construction of the Kamloops Judo Club facility where he instructed for over 50 years.
